I am interested in the same task, although I would like to filter by specific license type.

My understanding is that Jeff Kaplan's query is essentially doing a search for the substring "publicdomain", which would correspond to this licenseurl:

https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/

I would like to query for a more exact licenseurl, so I tried this query:

https://archive.org/search.php?query=licenseurl%3A%2Acreativecommons.org%2Fpublicdomain%2Fzero%2F1.0%2F%2A

(The * at the beginning is to indicate that I want both http: and https:)

However, my results are totally empty, so something wrong must be happening. I've tried similarly with this query:

https://archive.org/search.php?query=licenseurl%3A%2Acreativecommons.org%2Fpublicdomain%2Fmark%2F1.0%2A

And I get no results. However, I know that at least some items have this licenseurl, based on this advanced query: https://archive.org/advancedsearch.php?q=mediatype%3A%28audio%29+AND+licenseurl%3A*publicdomain*&;fl%5B%5D=licenseurl&sort%5B%5D=&sort%5B%5D=&sort%5B%5D=&rows=50&page=1&output=json&callback=callback&save=yes#raw

the query i offered would include http or https because the star is a wildcard so it will include anything before or after publicdomain. slashes break search.
